On Monday, February 1st, 2021, Edward Burdette Murphy, a loving husband and father of
six children, passed away at the age of 74.
Ed was born on April 9th, 1946, in Ovapa, West Virginia, to Early Murphy and Anna
Greathouse. He served 23 years in the Army until his retirement in 1984. Throughout his time in
the service, he earned a multitude of different degrees and served in wars such as the Vietnam
War. On July 5th, 2014, he married Yvonne Ziegler. They raised his two youngest daughters
Cheyenne and Elizabeth together.
Ed had a passion for living life. He always wanted to leave people with a smile. He also
loved to line dance, and so he combined these hobbies to begin a line dance group that taught the
style and traveled to perform; the Yellow Jackets. He loved working outside and bringing his
visions to life. He had a love for the sky and was always so proud of his time in flight school. His
passion for the sky extended to appreciating the Bald Eagle as well. He was also an avid country
music lover and a collector of cassette tapes. He was known for his hilarious comments,
infectious smile, and kind, compassionate, and uplifting spirit.
Ed is survived by his wife Yvonne, his four sons Teddy, Edward, Frederico, and Bryan, his
two daughters Cheyenne and Elizabeth, his siblings Pete and Christina, and several
grandchildren.
