Edward Elmer Carlson

Edward E. Carlson died August 15, 2007, surrounded by loved ones. Born in El Paso, Texas, January 28, 1916, to Swedish immigrants, Ellis A. and Hannah Carlson, Ed was the youngest of five children. Predeceasing him were his parents, his 4 siblings, his first love, wife and mother of his children, Frances Hobson, who died in 1956 from cancer, and 2nd wife, Elizabeth Wettermark, with whom he shared 44 years before her death in 2002. Edward is survived by son David Carlson of Houston, daughter Sylvia Evans of El Paso, granddaughter Michelle Evans of Dallas, grandson Jon M Evans and wife Genevieve, great-grandson William Carlson Evans, all of Houston, several grandnieces and nephews, and his faithful and beloved cocker spaniel “Goldie”. Growing up during the depression, Ed helped his brother, Ellis, delivered newspapers in the Highland Park area, he rode a bicycle for Western Union, caddied golf, and helped pave Scenic Drive under FDR’s WPA. He apprenticed as a machinist at Southern Pacific Railroad where he worked for 20 years and then took his trade to Standard Oil Refinery where he worked another 26 years. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Monte Vista and Hospice for their loving and professional care to him in his last days. Visitation will be Friday, August 17, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas. A graveside services will be held at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. 8700 Dyer, Saturday, August 18, 2007 at 10 a.m with Rev. Felix Orji officiating.
