Eduardo Mellado, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2010. Mr. Mellado was a life long resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served in Europe with the 22nd Regiment of the 4th Infantry Division. Among his decorations, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and the Combat Merit Badge. He retired from Phelps Dodge Refinery in 1981. Preceded in death by his granddaughter; Lorraine Mellado. Mr. Mellado is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Estela, sons; Eduardo Jr. (Ana), Ernesto, Carlos (Martha), daughter; Mary Alvarado (Joe), 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home-East at 750 N. Carolina Dr. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Mellado, Christopher Mellado, David Alvarado, Daniel Alvarado, Joe Alvarado and Don Fretenborough. Honorary Pallbearers will be Eduardo Mellado, Jr., Ernesto Mellado, Carlos Mellado and Brandon Mellado. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
