Earl Dean Bremner

EARL DEAN BREMNER 1933-2008 Earl D. Bremner passed away after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer on July 23, 2008. Born on December 15, 1933 in Alva, Oklahoma to the late George H. and Esther E. Bremner, he was raised in Marshalltown, Iowa. While in school, he participated in football, track, and drama. Following graduation, Earl attended Marshalltown Jr. College and joined the United States Marine Corps attaining the rank of “Buck” Sergeant while serving his country for three years. He rejoined civilian life as a Field Engineer with the IBM Corporation retiring as a Field Manager after a successful 34 year career. Throughout his life, Earl Bremner volunteered for numerous organizations including serving as a School Board Member and Park Board Commissioner in Westmont, Illinois, the Ron McDonald House, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Earl volunteered for many years Guadalupe Mountains National Park and Franklin Mountains State Park assisting with trail development and park grounds operations. Preceded in death by his sister Emily Langdon, he is survived by his “loving and ever helpful” wife of 29 years, Dolores Bremner of El Paso, Texas. Additional survivors include a brother George H. Bremner, Jr. of Alabama, a sister Jeanette Robinson of Minnesota, a daughter Leslie Hurta of Chicago, Illinois, sons Mark Bremner of Atlanta, Georgia and Todd Bremner of Chicago, Illinois, a step-son Steven Park of Dallas, Texas and grandchildren Jonathan and Amanda Bremner, Jennifer Hurta, and Travis Park. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 27th from 4-6pm at Sunset Funeral Home West, 480 N. Resler in El Paso, Texas. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28th at 10am at Coronado Baptist Church, 501 Thunderbird in El Paso, Texas followed by interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations in his memory be made to La Mariposa Hospice at Sierra Providence, 2001 N. Oregon, El Paso, Texas 79902.
