Dr. Philip A. Miles, FACOG, FCAP, passed away peacefully at his home in El Paso, Texas, on January 19, 2025, at the age of 86. By his side were his devoted wife, Anna, and his dear friend Marlon. Born February 5, 1938, in New York, he was a loyal and lifelong NY Yankees fan. His military career relocated him to El Paso, Texas, in 1966 where he called home until his last day. Dr. Miles dedicated his life to the field of OB/GYN and Pathology, and was the owner of GYN PATH Services, Inc., along with his partner Dr. Octavio Trejo. A compassionate and accomplished physician, he was a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, (FACOG) and the College of American Pathologists (FCAP). His professional accomplishments were matched by his unwavering dedication to his clients, his patients, and the betterment of women’s health. Dr. Miles was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna, and their three children:
• Beth Canak, the eldest, married to Griffin Canak, and their two children, Ryan (and wife Leah) and Rebecca
• Dr. Erik Miles, married to Marcy Miles, and their two children, Austin and Nicholas (and wife Brooke)
• Anita Miles McKay, the youngest, married to Mike McKay, and their blended family, Mallorie (and partner Anthony), Ethan, Shaun, and Shelby.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Funeral Home on Hondo Pass. An internment with military honors will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to either Samaritan’s Purse or joni&friends, causes both close to Dr. Miles’ heart, to honor his legacy of service and faith. Donations can be made at www.samaritanpurse.org or www.joniandfriends.org
Dr. Miles will be remembered for his kindness, integrity, sense of humor, and dedication to his faith, family, and profession. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
