Dr. Mo Adam Mahmood, age 73, entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 24, 2022 in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, professor, teacher, researcher and will be greatly missed. Mo is preceded in death by his parents; Mohammed Abdul Mannan and Sayeda Momtaz Begum. He is survived by wife; Sandra Luz Montes, his children; Dr. Brian Kelly Mahmood, Georgina Franco (Francisco), and Sandra Cardozo (Marco), his siblings; Yusuf, Haroon, Jahangir, Parveen, and Shannar, as well as his grandchildren; Harrison James Mahmood, Sebastian Cardozo, Dante Cardoza, and Penelope Franco. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.
Dr. Mahmood was a distinguished professor in Computer Information Systems within the Department of Information and Decision Sciences at the College of Business at the University of Texas El Paso for over three decades. He held the Ellis and Susan Mayfield Professorship until his retirement. He loved academia and was a prolific researcher and publisher of technical research papers in the world’s leading information technology journals throughout his career. He also served as the editor of multiple books and The Journal of Organizational and End User Computing. He served as a visiting scholar all over the world, including Europe, New Zealand, and Asia. He also served as a visiting scholar at NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He was also appointed to Texas Department of Information Resources State Board of Directors. He mentored numerous PhD students during his tenure at UTEP and loved passing on his love for research and science.
A Visitation will be on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home West, with a Vigil Service at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 01, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Matthew Catholic Church. A Graveside Service will follow at Memorial Pines Cemetery.
