Dr. Carl E. Chitwood "Pastor"

Dr. Carl E. Chitwood “Pastor”, age 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 26, 2023, in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. Carl is preceded in death by his loving parents; Delmar Chitwood and Pauline Grigg; and his brothers; Roy Chitwood, Jerry Reynolds, Kenneth Reynolds, and David Reynolds. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years; Marilyn Maxine Chitwood; his dearest children; Danny Lee Chitwood, Barbara Lynne Gordon (Garey), and Michelle Lanese Bowen (David); his daughter-in-law; Kim Chitwood; his wonderful grandchildren; Austin Chitwood, Lydia Chitwood, Britni Gordon, Morgan Bowen, and Brayden Bowen; and his dearest great-grandchildren; Veyda Chitwood, Athena Chitwood, and Thalia Sendejo. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.

Carl and his family moved to El Paso in 1978 and started Westside Baptist Temple which just celebrated their 45^th anniversary. He continued as a full-time Pastor until his passing.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 05, 2023, at Westside Baptist Temple, 901 W. Borderland, El Paso, Texas 79932. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am., Thursday, July 06, 2023, at Westside Baptist Temple. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.

Due to his love for missions in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Missions program at Westside Baptist Temple.
