Doyle Gray Quillin returned to our Heavenly Father December 1, 2023, soon after his wife Barbara, at the age of 93, of natural causes. Born August 25, 1930 on the family farm near McKinney, TX, he is preceded in death by his parents James and Lorene Quillin, brother James Arnold Quillin, and son Dereld Gray Quillin. Doyle is survived by his daughter Rhonda Lee Quillin, stepson Troy Loge (wife Patrice) stepdaughter Tracy Picazzo (husband Rolando), stepson Therron Loge, 11 grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Doyle, a second-generation immigrant from Ireland, was an excellent baseball player drafted into military service the day that he was to sign with a professional baseball club, instead serving his country during the Korean war. He went on to serve as VFW Post 8919 Commander in El Paso, TX, while also working as an engineer for NASA and later for General Dynamics at White Sands Missile Range, NM. Doyle was an avid fan of cowboys and the Dallas Cowboys.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Service will begin at 12:00pm on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3800 Hondo Pass Drive. Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Honors.
