Donna Gwynne Thomas March 16, 1958 – March 1, 2022 Beloved Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Educator Donna Gwynne Thomas of El Paso, TX passed away on March 1, 2022, at the age of 63. The oldest of three children, she was born on March 16, 1958, in Albuquerque, NM to George Thomas, Jr., and Juanita Willingham Thomas. Donna is lovingly remembered by her two sisters, Debbie Hunt of El Paso, TX and Deana Ortega of Fort Worth, TX; niece Lynnette Knight and husband Colin Knight of Rock Hill, SC; three nephews, Anthony (Tony) Hunt and wife Victoria Doman Hunt of Austin, TX, Christopher Ortega and wife Lucinda Alegria Ortega of Fort Worth, TX, and Brian Ortega and wife Jenny Swords Ortega of Fort Worth, TX; great-nephews Christian Knight and Noam Knight of Rock Hill, SC; great-nieces Audrianna Ortega and Lilyanna Ortega of Fort Worth, TX; and great-nephews Stellan Hunt of Austin, TX, and Dawson Ortega and Jagger Ortega of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by her three beloved feline children, Lance, Tom, and Jerry. Donna graduated from Irving High School in 1976, then went on to The University of Texas at El Paso, earning a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1983. An educator at heart, Donna dedicated her professional life as a public school teacher from 1983 until her retirement in 2010, serving the independent school districts of Socorro and Ysleta. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Homes – East on 750 N. Carolina Drive in El Paso, TX. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to carry on Donna’s memory, legacy, and loving generosity. Donations received will be used to establish a fund in Donna’s name that will contribute to causes, interests, and passions closest to Donna’s heart. She was a profound lover of animals, reading, education, and humanitarian giving.
