Donald Gilliam, born on July 21, 1927 in Mullinville, Kansas to Otis and Edith Gilliam. Donald passed away on May 6, 2008 in El Paso, Texas. He was raised in Kansas, served in the Navy during WWII, moved to El Paso in 1972. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company for many years. Donald was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. Gilliam is survived by his wife, Fern Gilliam, sons and daughter-in-laws, Steve and Joyce Gilliam; Dave and Cordia Gilliam; Amy Gilliam, grandchildren, Kimberly Taylor, Stacey Pinson, David, Jessica and John Gilliam and great grandchildren, Jocelyn Taylor, Kassidee and Cameron Pinson, and sister-in-law, Donna Gilliam; nephews and nieces, Roger Gilliam, Lee and Sarah Schmidt and Diane Gilliam. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Special Olympic Scholarship Fund: make payable to: The International Order of Alhambra, 213 Ben Swain, El Paso, Texas 79915 Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, May 9, 2008 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-West.
