Dolores G. Arriola

June 27, 1919 — January 30, 2022

Our beloved mother, Dolores, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, January 30th, in the comfort of her home. Her son, Robert, was by her side. Dolores was born on June 27, 1919, in Juarez to Doroteo and Josefa Garcia. She attended grade school there. After losing both her parents by age 11, she followed her brother to Santa Barbara, Chihuahua, to live with relatives. She soon had many friends and enjoyed her time there. There are many photos of them having social gatherings, walking the town square and enjoying the outdoors. On Sundays they would dress up for church. As a teen she worked as a typist in the Asarco mining offices. She had many fond memories of her time spent there. In her later years she would return regularly to reconnect with her friends, known as “El Club de Santa Barbara”. When our mom, Lola, as she was called, was about 19, she returned to Juarez to spend time with her older sister. She took a job at a shop in El Paso, and shortly after, met the man she would marry, Enrique. They settled in El Paso where she became a devoted housewife and mother to seven children. She created a wonderful home where we always had delicious home cooked meals with freshly baked bread or flour tortillas. She was also an accomplished seamstress, so us girls always had unique dresses to wear. During her free time, she loved reading or watching novelas. She also prayed and read the Bible every day. At age 52, our mother was widowed, as our father, Enrique, passed away suddenly. Since four of us were still under 16 years old, she stayed home to care for us. Once we all grew up, married and moved out, she met her second love, Gil. They lived happily for fifteen years, traveling and socializing with friends and family. She continued to live in her home with neighbors, friends and relatives always dropping by for a visit. Lola was loved by everyone who had the opportunity to know her. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings: Socorro, Virginia and Eduardo, husbands Enrique Arriola Sr., Gilberto Ramirez, and her sons Raul Arriola and Enrique Arriola Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her children: Robert, Letty Nava (Lionel), Lupe Arriola (Jerry Lloveras), Rosie Delgado (Charlie Gallarzo) and Martin Arriola. Her loving grandchildren: Melissa (Neal), Ricardo, Mercedes, Jacob, Gabriel, Bobby Jr., Victoria and James. Great grandchildren: Emery Nicole and Tais Dolores. And many extended family members. We would like to thank Dr. Barbara Reeves and her staff at Hospice El Paso for the wonderful care they provided mom. Also, a very special thanks to Norma Sifuentes and Paty Granados for their excellent care and commitment to our mother. May you finally Rest in Peace with the Lord, Mom We will miss you! The Rosary will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 with a Funeral Mass following at 11:00 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church.
