Dieter Stanchos

Dieter Stanchos was born on February 13, 1943 in Munchberg, Germany. Dieter moved to Yorktown, TX on May 30, 1949 with his mother, Linda Fehn, stepfather and U.S. Army Captain, Alvin A.E. Stanchos, and Alvin’s children, Alvin Jr. and Phyllis.

 In 1954, the military stationed his family to Washington State. Dieter enjoyed living in Dupont, Washington, where he attended the 7th and 8th grades. In 1958, the military stationed his family to El Paso, TX. Dieter graduated from Irvin High School in May 1961. 

 Dieter and his beloved wife, Catherine Stanchos were married on December 18, 1964 in El Paso, TX, and were married almost 60 years. Dieter and Catherine have four children, Adam, Kent, Susan, and Steven, and two grandchildren, Kayla and Eric. 

 Dieter had rental homes that he managed for many years. He enjoyed the challenge of working on rental home repairs. Dieter also enjoyed watching horror movies, family camping trips to Gila National Forest, and family vacations to California, Ruidoso, NM and Padre Island, TX. A recent pastime Dieter enjoyed was watching real estate investor YouTube videos.

 Dieter had numerous educational achievements: Certificate of Completion of Modern Techniques of Supervision from The Institute of Management at Southern Methodist University on September 25, 1970; Certificate of Completion of Seminar in Marketable Securities Operations from The Department of the Treasury, Bureau of the Public Debt from September 25-29, 1972; Bachelor of Arts in Psychology  from University of Texas at El Paso on August 31, 1972; Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling from University of Texas at El Paso in August 1976; Recognition Award for dedication and support to students in UTEP Cooperative Education Program; Certificate of Completion from The School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College in June 1985.

 Dieter had a successful banking career, and retired as manager of the cash department after 35 years of devoted service at The Federal Reserve Bank, El Paso Branch. The Federal Reserve Bank recognized Dieter for dedicated service at 25 years and 35 years. He received recognition awards for leadership and supervisory management from American Management Association in March 1973 and May 1974, and from The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas in October 1990 and 1991.

 Dieter entered into eternal rest on July 14, 2024, and was surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife Catherine, daughter Susan Stanchos, sons Adam, Kent, and Steven Stanchos, sister Phyllis Bridges and her husband Reinhold Bridges, two grandchildren Kayla and Eric Martinez, and sister-law Carol Meier.

 Dieter’s obituary is just a glimpse at what a wonderful human being he was. He was a loving and considerate husband, brother, father, and grandfather. He’ll be truly missed. We love you, and we’ll reunite in heaven one day.

Visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00am to 1:00pm, at Sunset Funeral Home- West, 480 N. Resler Drive.  Funeral Services will be Interment to follow at 2:00pm at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery, 4900 McNutt Road, Santa Teresa, NM.
