On Saturday, April 6, 2024 Dennis Lee Bell, age 80, left this earthly home surrounded by his loving family, and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven. Dennis was born on June 1, 1943 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to Bethel and Vera Bell. He attended Kirkman Technical High School in Chattanooga.
Dennis proudly served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He then became a police officer with the Chattanooga Police Department, and after moving to El Paso in 1966, he served on the El Paso Police Department.
Over the course of the years that followed, Dennis worked at TG & Y, Levitz Furniture, Dillard’s Department Store, Helen of Troy and sold advertising with the El Paso Shopping Guide and The Thrifty Nickel. He was a great salesman. Dennis was known for his genuine smile and firm handshake that made you feel like you were greeting an old friend.
In 1962, Dennis met the only love of his life, Linda. They married three short months later and had celebrated 61 years of marriage. They raised one daughter, Denise, daddy’s girl.
Dennis loved music and was a huge fan of Elvis, who he saw in concert in Las Vegas and El Paso. He enjoyed the bright lights of Las Vegas and the slot machines. His greatest love was spending time with, and caring for his family.
He loved being a Poppa to his “little buddies,” Brandon and Chance. They were truly his pride and joy. Dennis was a great comedian, and the life of any family gathering. He especially enjoyed conversations with his son-in-law, Mike.
Dennis had a huge heart for animals, and his beloved dogs Taco and Tinker will miss him dearly.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father Bethel, and his mother Vera. He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter Denise (Mike), grandsons, Brandon (Melody) and Chance, his loving sister Barbara, whom he adored, his nieces and nephews, Vicki, Kurt (Brenda), B.J. (Teri) Jay (Stacey), Mischele and Tina (Scott), and many great nieces and nephews, all whom he dearly loved.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at UMC, Hospice of El Paso, and our Melody, for their excellent and loving care.
We are comforted by the promise of Heaven through salvation, and know that one day we will all be reunited in glory.
