Debra Means went peacefully to be with Our Lord on Sunday, January 29, 2016 after a courageous battle against kidney and heart disease. Her final days on earth were spent surrounded by her loved ones- both family and friends. At her request, no formal services will be held. Debra was born June 19, 1953 in Vallejo, California and grew up as what she jokingly referred as an ARMY brat. Before graduating high school, she had the opportunity to see many parts of this amazing world. Debra obtained her Associates Degree in teaching, and worked for more than 20 years serving her community as a teachers' assistant. During that time, she proudly worked for the El Paso Independent School District with special needs students. Debra appreciated many things, including animals, art and music. She was a loving woman who will be missed dearly by all of her family and friends. Debra was the beloved daughter of Patricia McCann, loving mother of Denis (Victoria) Means II, and Dawn (Juan) Varela, a doting grandmother of her 12 amazing grandchildren, and oldest sister of Vicki Bruce. Debra has joined her sister Linda Bruce and brother Gary Bruce who preceded her in death.
"Death is not the end.
Death can never be the end.
Death is the road.
Life is the traveler.
The soul is the guide."
