David Thomas Chavez

David Thomas Chavez, age 77, peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, March 30th, 2024 at William Beaumont Hospital in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend. “Dave” met the love of his life Consuelo R. Chavez in Marfa, Texas, on January 6, 1995. Dave was a proud Marine who served in Vietnam and later medically retired at the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Dave demonstrated exceptional dedication and bravery not only in his military career but throughout his life. Dave earned many accolades while serving, and will forever be remembered for his loyalty and service to our country. Dave also served as a City and County manager for many years. Dave is preceded in death by his parents: Desiderio Chavez and Mary Jane Cadden. He is survived by his wife: Consuelo R. Chavez Children: Mary E. Chavez, Joe Chavez (Wife Martha), Jimmy Chavez (wife Christine), and Robert Lee Nunez (wife Yohanna). His siblings: are Rose Bundy, Carmen Swaroop, Jimmy Chavez, Bob Chavez (Lilia) and Larry Chavez, as well as three grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 5-9pm with a Rosary to commence at 7pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Homes-West; (480 N. Resler Drive).  A Funeral Mass will be held at 1130am; on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (9025 Diana Dr. El Paso TX. 79904). A Graveside Service will follow at 1pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors, (5200 Fred Wilson Ave). Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-West, (480 N. Resler Dr.).
