David Robert Schecter

David Robert Schecter, MD died on July 22, 2024 with his family by his side.

David was born on October 17, 1944 to Gladys and Max Schecter in Great Falls, Montana. He moved to El Paso during his teenage years, where he met his wife, Rose Breeman. Apart from his higher education and service in the United States Air Force, David and Rose have resided in El Paso ever since. 

David practiced ophthalmology for 43 years, caring for and touching the lives of many El Pasoans. He was a pillar in the community, supporting many philanthropic causes and for a time, acting as the President of the Eye Bank and the El Paso Tennis Club. He loved to read, travel and spend time with his grandchildren and was an avid tennis player.

David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Rose, and his children, Elizabeth Schecter Bendalin (Ron) and Marc Schecter (Becca) and five adoring grandchildren, Madeleine, Cameron and Jacob Bendalin and William and Alexander Schecter. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and Max Schecter. 

The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful care and compassion provided to David by Maythe, Libia, Lulu and Stacey. 

A graveside service to honor David’s life will be held on July, 24, 2024 at 10:30 am at B’nai Zion Cemetery, 3915 Gateway West, El Paso, Texas.
