David K. Matthews

David Kay Matthews, 88 years old, of Indiana, died in El Paso, Texas on February 17, 2024.

He was born in Kosciusko County, Indiana in 1935 to Emery G. Matthews and Mary E. Matthews.  He had many fond memories of growing up in Beacon Heights. David attended Central Senior High School before joining the Army in June of 1954 and receiving an honorable discharge in June 1962. 

David was preceded in death by his daughter Sherry Matthews, grandson, Christopher Matthews, wife Heidi Matthews, and sister Sue Alig. David is survived by his brother Dan Matthews and children Paul Matthews and wife Evelyn, Diane Perez and husband Willie, Holly Henry and husband Mark, and Daniel Matthews and wife Mart. David is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. David retired from White Sands Missile Range after 40 years of service. He loved boating, shooting, sports, football (Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers), dogs, and was very talented at building all types of things.

Committal Service will begin at 11:00am on Tuesday March 12, 2024 at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.  Services entrusted Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
