David Leon, Sr., 79, born in Duson, LA, March 3, 1927, passed away in El Paso, TX on February 9, 2007. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Leon, Sr. and mother, Marie A. Leon, of Rayne, LA; seven brothers and two sisters, also of Rayne, LA; and beloved daughter-in-law, Anne E. Leon El Paso, TX. David is survived by his wife of 61 years, Hazel Leon of Rayne, LA, residing in El Paso, TX; 3 sons: Donald Ray Leon, Roland Leon, and David Leon, Jr.; 2 daughters, Lisa Leon Alford and husband, Andrew, and Lydia Leon Higginbotham and husband Pete; along with fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. David has one surviving sister, Cora Roberts residing in Rayne, LA. David retired from the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class after serving his county for 30 years. He served during WWII and the Korean War. He also retired from Raytheon (Beach Aerospace) after 15 years. The family would like to thank Dr. Wayne Watson and other attending physicians and the staff of Sierra Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm with a Vigil to begin at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30 am, Thursday, February 15, 2007 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons: Roland Leon Jr., Josh Briscoe, Cody Higginbotham, Trever Leon, Duane Preskey, and Troy Lowry. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
