David (Dave) H Meier

September 5, 1933 — January 16, 2008

DAVID H. (Dave) MEIER, 74, passed away January 16, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his family, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Florence; daughter, Pamela Meier Price; son, David; grandson, Joseph Price; and one cousin, Marian Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father, William; mother, Ruth; and sister, Martha. He was a graduate of Purdue University where he was a member of the Triangle Fraternity. After serving in the US Army, he was employed by the US government at White Sands Missile Range until his retirement. Dave loved Barbershop style music and was a proud and enthusiastic member of the El Paso Border Chorders. He was happiest entertaining, making people laugh and smile, and performing with his two Barbershop quartets. He was also a driving force behind the El Paso Chess Club, directing USCF rated and scholastic tournaments throughout the year. His ambition was to strengthen and promote chess in the community.
