David Perez Gutierrez

David Perez Gutierrez, 90, passed away on Monday September 4, 2017. David was born in Ensign, Kansas on April 7, 1927 to John and Lucia Gutierrez. After graduating from Ensign High School, he then left to serve his country proudly in the United States Army. His experiences took him to Kentucky, Virginia and Europe during the Korean War. David served from November 1951 to November 1953. David attended Texas Western College of the University of Texas due to his interest in Metallurgy. David would later marry Maria De La Paz Gutierrez in 1959. David worked for the American National Insurance Company as an insurance agent, and retired after 25 years. He enjoyed volunteer work in his community to reduce graffiti and theft. David’s efforts brought the City Alderman and Actor Chuck Norris to his home to promote neighborhood crime reduction in the area. He enjoyed reading The El Paso Times and viewing World News. David enjoyed the art of debate with friends and family over local and national issues. Importantly, David enjoyed visiting his mother on weekends and completing minor home repairs for her. David is survived by his sons Adrian, David Jr and George; Grandchildren Kayla Mariah and Christopher George; His wonderful siblings Ernesto, Sally, Ann, Daniel, Abel and Rosemary; and over 38 nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm, Monday, September 11, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Chapel Service: 9:30am, Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East. Committal Service: 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
