David Ross Gentry
David Ross Gentry, 77, of El Paso, Texas, passed away August 30th, surrounded in his family’s love. David was raised by Emma and Ross Gentry in Stamford, Texas, where he met and married his best friend, Carla. They were side by side for almost 48 loving years before she passed. David remained a proud Red Raider after graduating from Texas Tech University with a BA in Psychology. He devoted his life to his family, along with dedicating 25 years at Georgia Pacific. He then started his own furniture business, which he successfully sold to enjoy retirement. David is survived by his children, Courtney Bates (Jason), Eric Gentry (April), Adrienne Murphy (Charles), Whitney Rodriguez (Eric), Tony Hajjar (Nicole); and his 17 grandchildren: Victoria, Alexis, Angel, Vivianna, Anissa, Matthew, Lauren, Mylo, Alesia, Ida, Brandon, Emma, Zade, Alannah, Caesar, Ross, and Roen.
David was the best example of dedication, determination, willpower, and love. He lived by the sayings, “Right is right, and wrong is wrong” and “If you’re going to do something, do it right.” He was a master woodworker and created beautiful pieces of furniture that will last many lifetimes. He took great joy in his grandchildren’s events and was their biggest fan. He also enjoyed target shooting, afternoon visits on the porch, having a good laugh, and a good family meal. Words cannot express how much his children and grandchildren will miss him in their lives.
On behalf of David, his family would like to thank all of the incredible doctors and their staff who cared for him, especially Drs. Augustine Eleje, Luis Guerra De La Fuente, Joshua Rodriguez, Edward Assi, Panagiotis Valilis, and Carlo Hatem.
