David H. Carrasco, on July 11, 2024, our beloved husband and father was called home by his Savior Jesus Christ.
David was born in El Paso, TX on December 29, 1933. He graduated from Bowie High School and then left to serve his country proudly in the United States Army as an E4 Sergeant and received the Marksmanship Badge. David served under the 505th Airborne Infantry Regt 1951-1954. David also served and retired from Naval Reserve as Construction Mechanic 2nd Class and served in Vietnam with CBS Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 22 and received the Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. David also retired from Civil Service after 30 plus years as a Mechanic Combat Vehicle / Heavy Equipment and Automotive Component Service Repair.
Post retirement David worked with EPISD transportation Division and Austin Airport Transportation Division.
Survived by his beloved and devoted wife Maria Elena Carrasco of sixty years, daughter Virginia, son Armando, daughter-in-law Rosa and granddaughter Elizabeth Olivia as well as loving daughters Edna and Bertha along with additional grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and loving Big brother Manuel Solis. Special veterans Gilbert Jorden, Gilberto Torres, Joe Valverde, Guy Rosales along with other comrades. Last but not least special caregivers Nancy and Sofi. David will be dearly missed, always remembered and loved by family and friends.
Visitation from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills. Committal Service will follow at 2:00 PM at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
