Dan K. McCoin born in Sparta, TN on February 1, 1941, to Aaron & Lillie McCoin. Dan passed away peacefully at home with family at his side per his request. Dan was survived by his awesome & loving wife of 50 years, Linda L. McCoin; sons, Mark, Michael & Melvin McCoin; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and brothers, Don & Dale McCoin from IN & KY. Dan moved shortly after birth and was raised in North Indiana until he enlisted in the US Army & completed the Army’s Nuclear Power Program & served as a nuclear power operator & instrumentation control specialist for 12 years, he also served on the Army Nuclear Power Ship the Sturgis Supplying power for the locks of the Panama Canal. As a civilian, Dan owned & operated several businesses. He loved science, technology & jokes. Dan was an accomplished inventor & patent holder and a recently published author of The UniKEF Theory. A long time resident of El Paso from 1973, was cited in the 1979 edition of “Personalities of the South”, also numerous news articles & publications of his achievements including radio & TV newscasts on UPI, NBC & Paul Harvey News. For the past 8 years Dan and wife managed Robin Hood Park on 9716 Dyer St. where he recently retired & a Memorial Service will be held on February 27, 2010 at 12:00 noon and please RSVP thru the Robin Hood office. Dan was well known for his warm smile & delightful personality, goodwill and generosity to all. The McCoin family extends a special thanks to WBAMC & ICU doctors, nurses & staff where he held a captive audience for his jokes, also Dr. Calderon & staff, Dr. Chesbro & staff, VNA Hospice & nurses for his care. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted at the memorial for VNA Hospice and other charities. Dan McCoin was one of a kind and very special, he will be missed by all that knew him.
