Dale O. Baugh

Dale O. Baugh, born on February 23, 1942 in McKinney, Texas, passed away on July 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Maxwell Baugh and Dorothy Jo Greer. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his wife of 46 years, Patricia Baugh; son, William (Marcela) Baugh; granddaughters Elena and Elizabeth Baugh; sisters, Sharon and Beverly Baugh; and aunt, Geneva Ann Baugh. Dale graduated from Richardson High School in 1960 and he attended Texas A&M. He joined the military in 1966, and was in Air Defense Artillery. He retired in 1986 as a CW3. While in the military, he was part of the first Patriot class at Fort Bliss. After retiring from the military, Dale worked for SAIC as a Software Systems Analyst. He began volunteering with the El Paso Police Department in 2002, where he volunteered over 5,000 hours. He also volunteered as Santa for children with disabilities and for schools. Every Christmas Eve he and his wife, known as Santa and Mrs. Claus, would visit hospitals. He loved volunteering and making people, especially children, happy. In 2005, He received the President’s Volunteer Service Award from President George W. Bush. Dale was very active in the community: he was part of the Board of Texas Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, Board of Paso Del Norte Gun Collectors Inc., Northeast Citizens Advisory Board, The Chief’s Advisory Board, and Founding member of the El Paso Police Foundation. Dale was nominated for the TCPAAA Bill Ennis Award for alumni member of the year. Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Rosary at 7:00pm on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Mass will begin at 9:30am on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
