DALE MARTIN ASHTON, 50, passed away on February 17, 2011, in San Antonio, TX after a brief battle with cancer. Dale was a lifelong resident of El Paso. He was born on August 5, 1960 in El Paso, TX. Dale proudly served in the US Navy after graduating from Burgess High School. He attended El Paso Community College and the University of Texas at El Paso. Dale worked at Thomason Hospital, now University Medical Center in the Rehabilitative Services Department where he made many lifelong friends. His health care career took him to Hanger Prosthetics and Orthotics as a certified pedorthist and licensed orthotic assistant. Dale’s greatest gift to those who knew him was his amazing sense of humor, contagious hearty laugh and his willingness to help anyone in need. Dale loved the Pittsburgh Steelers almost as much as he cherished his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Lester E. Ashton and Charlotte R. Sedlmeier and his stepfather Michael Sedlmeier. He is survived by his loving wife Valentina Zrofsky-Ashton, his sons Ernesto and Salvador Enrique, (Becki) his granddaughter Catie Mendival. He is also survived by his brothers Lee (Joyce), Keith, Glenn (Mary) and his nephew Andrew Ashton all of El Paso, TX. He is survived by his uncle Gary Ashton from Elwood , PA. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, at Sunset Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Funeral Services will be at noon at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina on Tuesday, February 22, and interment immediately following at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ernesto Nieto, Lee Ashton, Keith Ashton, Glenn Ashton, Gabriel Gonzalez, George Enriquez, David Ritchie, and Myron Griffin. Honorary pallbearers: Mark Ceglio, Rito Legarreta, Amoes Aaron and Dr. Ramsey Hazboun and Dr. Bernardo Ng. The family wishes to thank Dr. Ramsey Hazboun and his staff for the compassionate care and personal attention extended to our beloved Dale. Our sorrow is only lightened by the knowledge that Dale will forever live in the hearts of all those whose lives he touched. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
