Crispin Benjamin Huerta, 88, peacefully departed from this earth on December 9, 2016 in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones. Born in El Paso, Texas on December 5, 1928, he was the only son born to the late Carmen Guajardo and Ricardo Huerta. Crispin grew up in the “Segundo Barrio” and he attended Aoy Elementary School. At a very young age he took on odd jobs at local restaurants and in his early teens he worked at the Globe Ice Company. He proudly served in The United States Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Nurnberg, Germany. He married his loving wife Lucila Sera-Huerta on November 10, 1951. Crispin worked as a butcher for E.B. Manning & Son in Pico Rivera, California. Before retiring he was the manager of the Video Depot store in El Paso. Crispin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He never met a stranger and he was always willing to help anyone in need. Preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Lucila Sera-Huerta; daughter, Lucila Ellis-Huerta; son, Julio Alberto Huerta; son, Benjamin Huerta; sister, Josefina Huerta and brother, Salvador Huerta. Crispin is survived by: son, Carlos Huerta; daughters, Isela Chavez and her husband Frank and Carmen I. Perez and her husband Jim Brod; son-in-law, Cecil Ellis; sister Martha Huerta-Garcia; grandchildren Oscar Natividad, Lizette Natividad (husband Julian), Isela Anchondo (husband David), Jacqueline Perez, Jonathan Ellis, Amber Olivarez (husband Christopher), Juan Jose Perez, Christian Huerta and Edwin Huerta; the following great-grandchildren: Olivia Anchondo, Vivian Anchondo, Lucia Heilig, and Jude Heilig; and many nieces, nephews and extended family from Texas, California and Mexico. Gathering of Remembrance from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm with a Memorial Service at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home East, 750 N. Carolina. Interment will be Private.
