Cora Mae Collins

February 20, 1933 — April 27, 2007

Cora M Collins, 74, left this world on Friday, April 27, to join her beloved husband, Charley T Collins. Cora married and left her home in Oklahoma at the age of 13, first to become a cattle rancher in NM and later to become a bartender in California, and a military wife in El Paso. Cora and Charley were married as youngsters; they loved and fought for 44 years until Charley’s death in 1995. Family left behind include her son, Michael; daughter Michele (Leonard); 3 grandsons, Dallas (Jera), Schuyler, and Charley; 2 great granddaughters, Kenzi and Nicki; and daughter of the heart, Carol (Harry). Thanks to the staff of 4N at Providence for their care and empathy. Special thanks to Cora’s favorite Oakie, Dr. May and to Dr Raudales for keeping her with us a little longer. Cora exhibited a tough exterior, spoke direct and let you know exactly where you stood; she had a fierce love for her family and never let us down. We will try to follow that legacy, and indeed, she will live on forever. Visitation will be Thursday, May 3 from 6-8 pm at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, with graveside services on Friday, May 4 at 10 am, Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Please visit on-line register book at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
