Constance’s family moved to El Paso at the end of WWII. She enrolled and graduated from Radford School for Girls, then continued her education at TWC. After graduating from TWC, she resumed her studies at the Chicago School of Design. She also attended travel agency schools and graduate courses at UTEP in TV and Radio. While completing graduate studies she worked as a receptionist for the UTEP Athletic Department.
With her parents she was part owner in World Travel Associates. After closing the travel agency, she opened a ceramic shop on the Westside of El Paso. An opportunity to work for GuyRex, Miss America Pageant Directors, was offered, and she became chaperone for Miss El Paso and Miss Texas. She traveled extensively in Texas as a chaperone. She was also chosen to be the pageant director for Mrs. Texas. She became a Miss America Pageant Judge in the State of Texas. Subsequently she was involved in directing, monitoring and judging at many local pageants within the State.
Constance was a life member and President of the Woman’s Auxiliary of UTEP, life member and Director of the Women’s Department of the El Paso Chamber of Commerce, President of the Delta Gamma Alumni Society, and member of Colonial Dames of the XVII Century. She was one of the first to join and became a life member of the Sons and Daughters of the Colonial Bench and Bar. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Bench and Bar of Alabama 1465-1811, and El Paso Zoological Society. She served on many Sun Carnival committees, which included a term as Vice President for the Sun Carnival Coronation festivities. Some of her favorite activities were participating in the Craft Club, doing genealogical research, and spending many hours doing needlepoint. She was a voracious reader of military, history, and royalty books. She enjoyed hosting parties for the Kentucky Derby and 4th of July. Living a life of faith that began in her teens, she was a prayer warrior, interceding daily for others and was a student of God’s word.
Constance enjoyed serving her community and is remembered for her upbeat can-do attitude, pleasant demeanor, organizational skills, and infectious laugh. She will be fondly remembered by her beloved husband, family, relatives, friends and colleagues.
Constance passed away in her sleep after a long battle with several medical issues. The family thanks the caring, professional and supportive staff of Golden Park Home Sweet Home Foster Care and Three Oaks Hospice for their compassion and love.
