Conner Charleene Hendryx

HENDRYX, CONNOR CHARLEENE On April 14, 2008 in El Paso, Texas, our beloved 83 year old mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Connor Charleene Hendryx passed away four weeks after the death of her loving husband of 60 years, Marshall Hendryx. Connor grew up in Monticello, Arkansas, and graduated from Monticello High School in 1942. She attended Ouachita Baptist College and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1946. As a stewardess for American Airlines, she married Marshall in 1947. Connor raised five children in Dallas, Wyoming, Lubbock, and El Paso. She completed her Texas teaching certification at the University of Texas at El Paso, then began 23 years as a 5th grade teacher at Ysleta Elementary School in El Paso. Since 1945, Connor was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was a long-time member of the El Paso Scottsdale Baptist Church. She is survived by her five children, 15 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Her five children and spouses are Charles M. Hendryx and wife Ruth Hatcher, Honolulu, HI; Don J. Hendryx, CRNA, Roundrock, TX; Dr. Joel T. Hendryx and wife Elsa, El Paso, TX; Sara E. Moeck and husband Robert, Duluth, GA, and Dr. Mary C. Ward and husband Bill Troxler, Flower Mound, TX. Viewing will be on Thursday, 17 April 2008 from 6:00-8:00 P. M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 750 N. Carolina Dr. To celebrate her life, a memorial service will be held at the same location on Friday, 18 April 2008 at 8:00 A.M. Connor will be buried with her husband at Fort Bliss National Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
