Concepcion "Connie" Fernandez Labrado
January 16, 1942 - October 26, 2024 (82 years old)
Connie was born in El Paso, Texas. She grew up in central south El Paso at the Tays apartments. She graduated from Bowie High School. Her activities during high school involved ROTC and the Baton Twirlers squad. She was so eager to work at an early age. She started working at 14 years of age in various jobs downtown, such as clothing stores, The Popular, Greyhound Busing, and Texas Manufacturing office (TexToc). Then, she worked at R. E. Thomason as a telephone operator for several years. Her last work was at Alpha Therapeutics Blood Bank downtown. Connie loved to travel various U.S. cities and other countries with her husband, children, family, and friends. Holidays were special for her because memorable moments were made between her parents, in-laws, children, siblings and grandchildren. As the years advanced, she become very close to our Lord Jesus. She became a "Servant of Mary" order at "Our Lady of Sorrows" by North Loop. Volunteered as a Catechist teacher and Eucharist minister for the sick at San Antonio Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to church during the weekdays. And she also would devote Friday's mornings to prayers with the San Antoinio Church prayer group. Connie is preceded in death by her husband-Luis Jr. Labrado, son- Henry Louie Labrado, father-Baltazar Fernandez, mother-Concha R. Fernandez, three brothers-Baltazar, Enrique, Baltazar Jr, and sister-Irene Lucero. She is survived by her daughter Cathy Lynn Labrado, who cared for her for the last year and was by her side until her last breath. Surviving sisters are Daisy Garcia Fernandez, Selma Adams, Enriqueta Gonzlez, Elizabeth Fernandez, and Mary Patricia Fernandez. And Brother Dr. Peter Fernandez. Grand daughters are Erika Louies L. Quinones, and Jacqueline L. Cepeda. And great grandchildren Joseph and Nichole Quinones, Louise Ill and Aubry Cepeda. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with Rosary at 6:00pm, Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:45 am, Friday, November 8, 2024, at San Antonio Catholic Church, 503 Hunter. Interment will follow at 11:00 am following Mass at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson, El Paso, TX 79907.
