Clyde Kenney Shirley

Clyde K. Shirley, Lieutenant Colonel USA (RET), born in DeRidder, LA on October 12, 1935, died peacefully on August 23, 2007. Clyde loved his family, his friends, and the U.S. Military; serving proudly in diverse assignments within the United States, as well as in Europe, Korea, and Viet Nam. After retiring in 1975 he enjoyed sail boating, motorcycling, and traveling, especially to Germany, the homeland of Rosemarie, his loving wife of 46 years. He is survived by Rosemarie of El Paso, TX; his brother, Charles E. Shirley and wife, Shirley of Houston, TX; his sister, Sharon Thibodeaux and husband, James of DeRidder, LA; sister-in-law, Huynh Shirley of DeRidder, LA; and several nieces and nephews in LA, AL, and TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Azor E. Shirley, Sr. and his brother, Azor E. Shirley, Jr., all of DeRidder, LA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to The Univ. of TX MD Anderson Cancer Center, ATTN: Dr. Lance Pagliaro, P.O. Box 4486; Houston, TX 77210-4481or to a charitable organization of your choice. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 29th and again from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 30th at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass; El Paso, TX. Funeral Services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, August 30th with Rev. (Dr.) Essic Hands officiating. Pallbearers at the Chapel will be: Charles E. Shirley, Jr., Garland Paul Shirley, Tom Trahan, Kurt Billmann, Tracy Griffin, and Ron Martin. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at the Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Services Entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
