Clotilde O. Valdez

Clotilde (Cleo) O. Valdez, 95, went to be with our Lord after a prolonged illness on Friday, February 24, 2023 in El Paso, TX. She was born on January 16, 1928, in Los Angeles, CA. She was a graduate of Nogales High School, Nogales, AZ. She married Moses S. Valdez on October 30, 1948 in Nogales. She was a resident of El Paso since September 1964.

Cleo was a devout Catholic and a member of the Altar Society of Holy Trinity Church and regularly prayed the Rosary with members of the parish. She loved and supported family members in hard times and troubles. Cleo contributed to her community in supporting Moses’ Optimist International service projects to improve the lives of children. She also worked at polling places for local, state and national elections. She enjoyed crocheting, working on crafts for gifts and wedding decorations, and sewing.

Clotilde is preceded in death by her husband, Moses, her parents Francisco M. and Simona G. Ochoa, and her brothers Francisco G. Ochoa and Antonio G. Ochoa. Cleo leaves behind her children Stephen M. Valdez, Norma A. Martinez, Cynthia A. (Willie) Aguilar, Susan (Jason) Douglass, Rene (Claudia) Valdez, and Marco A. (Susan) Valdez.  She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Cleo is also survived by her sisters, Emma G. Garcia, Carmen G. Garcia, and Aurora G. Sanchez and her brothers Nicolas G. (Carmen Alicia) Ochoa, and Richard G. Ochoa.

Visitation will be held on March 6, 2023 from 4pm to 8pm with a rosary at 6:30pm at Sunset Funeral Homes Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm on March 7, 2023 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 10000 Pheasant Rd. Graveside Service will follow at 2:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
