Clinton D.B. Smith

Clint D.B. Smith, 94, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, October 30, 2007. He is survived by his loving wife Lee, step-son Robert Clarkson and his wife Margaret of Garland, TX, step-daughter Renee Clarkson, and step-sons Johnn Leoni and Mario Leoni, of El Paso, TX, nephews Leonard C.G. (Jeff) Smith of Naples, FL, Warren E. Smith of Sherwood, OR, Herbert F. Smith of Wilsonville, OR, and niece Althea Apgar of Lakeland, FL. He is preceded in death by his first wife Ruth, his parents Edward and Harriet Smith, and his brothers Herbert F. Smith and Eaton E. Smith. A long time resident of El Paso, Clint was born in Middletown, Connecticut on April 26, 1913. Colonel Smith retired from the Air Force in 1961 after 30 years of active service. He received the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Legion of Merit, among others. He received a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1976. Reverend Smith attended seminary and retired from the priesthood with the Episcopal Church after many years of faithful service to Christ. He was a member of the Military Order of World Wars and the Retired Officers Association where he served as Chaplain, President, and Secretary, the Military Officers Association of America, and the National Association for Uniformed Services. He was also a member of Discover El Paso, The Supper Club, and the DDD club. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate to know and love him and to be loved by him. Graveside Services with military honors will begin at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, with Fr. Al Nondorf officiating.
