Clarence Lee Townsend

C. Lee Townsend, age 88, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandmother and will be dearly missed. Lee is preceded in death by her parents: Clarence Smith and Alice Lane and her daughter, Tracy Lynn Chahine. She is survived by Lester E. Townsend, her husband of 20 years; her children, Mark Walton, Vivia Decker, Jennifer Barrera, and Erin Hallman;10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many extended family and friends who cherish and honor her memory.

Lee was born and grew up in Broken Bow, Oklahoma and resided in El Paso, Texas for 51 years. She taught English, speech, and drama at Las Cruces High School, Ganado High School, and Fabens High School. Among many cherished memories, Lee leaves behind a legacy of compassion, devotion, and kindness as a highly respected and adored educator.

 When not teaching, Lee was acting and directing at the El Paso Playhouse, an avid bridge player, and loved to travel. Lee and Lester spent many happy and magical hours onboard cruise ships around the world

 The family would like to especially acknowledge Phil and Mary Henderson, next door neighbors for 46 years, for their love and support, and Hospice El Paso for the care and compassion they provided to Lee and the family.
