Christopher James "CJ" Quay of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away on February 5, 2025, in El Paso, Texas.
Born on April 15, 1991, in Bedfordshire, England, CJ later moved to the United States, where he attended Onate High School. He was an active member of the school's marching band, playing the saxophone, and wore number 60 as a member of the football team. He graduated from Onate High School in January 2009.
Following graduation, CJ enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 2009 as a Signals Collector Analyst and was stationed at Fort Eisenhower, formerly known as Fort Gordon, Georgia. His dedication to service and commitment to his field led him to further his education at Dona Ana Community College, where he earned an associate degree. He later continued his career as a Department of Defense contractor.
CJ was a devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed online gaming and collecting historical war memorabilia.
He is survived by his beloved dog, Hera; his mother, Christine (Ernesto) Carbajal; his father, Stephan (Marion) Quay; his brother, Matthew (Sheri) Quay; and his nephews, Caiden, and Myles Quay.
An Honors Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Blvd., in El Paso, Texas.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Donations can be made in his name to the Las Cruces Humane Society.
