Charline M. (Nanny) Rogers passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. Mrs. Rogers was born in Graves County, Kentucky on May 3, 1915 to Charles L. and Gela Nanny. She moved with her family to the Texas Hill Country when she was a young girl. She met her future husband, Thomas Boyce Rogers, in San Antonio and after a short courtship, they were married in North Carolina on September 12, 1942 before Tom went overseas to serve in WWII. She was a dedicated and supportive army wife traveling to various posts throughout the world with kids and belongings in tow. She was a long-time member of the Church of Christ attending Northside, Grandview, and Montana Street. She was a life member of the Fort Bliss NCO Wives Club. Charline was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years Ret. SGM Thomas B. Rogers. Charline was the devoted mother of her four surviving daughters: Carol Gestwicki, Nancy Carpenter (John), and Judy Richey of El Paso and Jean Farrel (Mack) of Austin. She is also survived by loving grandchildren: Katherine Batzlaff, Sam Farrel, Christopher and Casey Carpenter and great-granddaughters: Sydnee Batzlaff and Karen Farrel. Surviving siblings: Dortha Schrader, Pauline Rodgers, Joe Nanny, Ann Parish, and Bobbie Nell Crider. Visitation will be on Monday, December 14th from 11:00 am-1:00 pm with the Funeral Service to begin at 1:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Interment at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 2:00 pm. Dempsey Williams of Montana Street Church of Christ and Howard Bryan of Westside Church of Christ will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mack Farrel, John Carpenter, John Nanny, Sam Farrel, Chris Carpenter, Casey Carpenter, Brian Busse, and Fernando Torres.
