On 12 May 1933, the world was blessed with the birth of Charles Will Shedrick born in Edison, Georgia to the parents of Augustus Shedrick Sr. and Ethel Bell Shedrick. He was the third of nine children and the second oldest son. Charles accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age at Turner Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Edison, Georgia.
Charles met his lifetime love and best friend, Rosa Lee Moore as she attended Savannah State College. They married 4 August 1956, in Folkston, Georgia. They were married for 64 years. He was a man who loved his wife for 64 years like it was year one. Rosa (AKA: Rose) knew she had a one-of-a-kind man as all family soon agreed. Family members would always say God broke the mold after He made dad.
Charles joined the United States Army at the young age of 18 and served our country for exactly 30 years. The military took him all across the globe to South Carolina, Arkansas, Germany, Georgia, North Carolina, Greenland, Michigan, Wisconsin, Okinawa, Vietnam, Italy, Korea, and ending at Texas. Charles retired at Fort Bliss, Texas located in El Paso, Texas on 31 March 1982 with the rank of Sergeant Major. After retiring from the military, he worked for the El Paso Independent School District as a Bus Driver, where he retired after 18 years. He was a long time member of the 1st Armored Division Chapel, formerly Chapel #4 Gospel Service.
On 26 January 2023, Charles was called to be with the Lord to sit at His right hand. He is once again reunited with his lifetime love, Rose, and two daughters, Debra and Tammy. Charles will be missed tremendously, but his legacy of love, respect, service, and his value of Faith and Family will always be remembered.
