Charles L. Lincoln

May 6, 1930 — February 25, 2009

Charles “Abe” Lincoln passed away Wednesday, February 25 after a courageous battle with lung cancer at the age of 78. He was born on May 6, 1930 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His ambition led him to several careers including the Air Force, sales, owner of Leslie’s Barbeque in Van Horn and most recently at International Business College. He is survived by several loving family members, including LaWanna Lincoln, Cindy (Jimmy) Gelabert, Lisa (Casey) Rogers, Bea (Tito) Urias, Chris Jones and grandchildren Tina (Tom) Gilbert, Nick (Adriana) Gelabert, Chris Gelabert, Jarett Rogers, Jenna Rogers, Jaclyn Gelabert and Lezlie Jones. He has two great grandchildren Frieda and Nicole Gelabert. He had an uncanny ability to converse with and relate to people of all walks of life and was known for his many phrases like “Straight home, I’m going to call.” He will live forever in the hearts of so many. Special thanks to Mesilla Valley Hospice, all the caregivers, especially Steve, Nancy and Bonnie. Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
