Charles Edwin Crayne, 75 was called home by the Lord on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 while in the company of his loving family. He was born on September 19, 1931 in Aurora, Missouri and was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. Charles served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Combat Veteran. He received the Army of Occupational Medal, National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korea Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, and the Korean War Service 50th Anniversary Medal. He retired after 36 years from the Southern Pacific Railroad. Mr. Crayne was an avid golfer, with 6 hole-in-ones, and shot his age numerous times. He enjoyed fishing, casinos, and was always lending a helping hand to anyone. He was a fantastic handyman and enjoyed telling stories of his life. He loved his family immensely. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; Hal and Laura and brothers; Andy and Leon, and his son-in-law; Tom. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; Rosa , his five children; Glinda (Henry), Charles (Gloria) Margaret, Rodney, Cynthia, 8 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, brother; Donald (Ruth) and other extended family. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, brother, uncle, the best and most caring grandfather and great-grandfather, a loyal friend, helpful neighbor and will be greatly missed by all. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 12, 2007 from 5pm until 7pm with a Scripture Service at 5:30pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Graveside Service will be held Monday, August 13, 2007 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11:30 am with Military Honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
