Carolyn C. Pratt was born on February 7, 1925 and departed this life on February 5, 2009. What a beautiful, kind, gracious, and loving soul! Carolyn grew up on Long Island, Glen Cove, New York, and met her future husband, Charles Pratt, Jr., at Virginia State in Petersburg, VA. Carolyn earned her bachelor’s degree from Virginia State and completed her Master of Education at the University of Texas at El Paso. She taught at Fannin Elementary and Crosby Elementary and she was selected as a Top Ten Teacher in the EPISD. Carolyn’s served as a Grey Lady, and American Red Cross volunteer, as well as a Volunteer in Public Schools (VIPs). She was a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Carolyn was a lover of the arts, an artist, a writer, and a poet, a teacher in and outside of the classroom, and, most importantly, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her beautiful spirit lives on in the hearts of her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, Dr. Charles Pratt, Jr. (LTC, U.S. Army Retired); her brothers James H. Cooke and John D. Cooke; and her mother, Sallie Durant. She is survived by her daughters, Gwen Pratt and Sue N. Pratt of El Paso; her son, Charles Pratt III (Chela) of Phoenix; grandchildren: Cassandra Hoshor- Melson (Patrick); Carolyne Suzanne Durant; Charles Pratt IV; and Paola Pratt. Great-granddaughters: Amanda, Alyssa, Devan, and Sophia; and, great-great granddaughter, Lilly Celeste.
