Carolina Olivas Mendoza

Carolina Olivas Mendoza entered into the hands of our Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the age of 80. She was a long-time El Pasoan and an active member of the Northeast community, including Blessed Sacrament Athletic Association, for over 40 years. She coached cheerleading and softball for several years, mentoring dozens of kids throughout the years.

She was a proud graduate of El Paso High School who devoted herself to raising her four children while they were growing up. She was an avid bowler who participated in state tournaments every year. She went on to work with the El Paso Diablos until their departure from the city, then worked for the El Paso Chihuahuas beginning at their inception in 2014. During this time, she worked seasonally for the Sun Bowl Association, providing assistance to the game and associated activities and events for twenty years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Francisco Mendoza, her parents, Bernardino and Nemesia Olivas, and her son, Francisco Mendoza, Jr. She is survived by her children: Cecilia, Rene (Merry) and Andrew (Lora); her grandchildren: Cassandra (Daniel), Rico, Roman (Vivian), Victoria, Nicole, Cooper, Julian, Leilani and Keanu , and her great-grandchildren: Jaden, Kahlo, Xochitl, Adonis Francisco and Theseus. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 6:00pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Dr. Committal Service to follow at 1:30pm on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
