Carol Harris Stripling

Carol Harris Stripling, 62, returned home to the Lord on December 1, 2017. She was born on October 27, 1955 in El Paso, TX to Freeman and Miriam Harris. Following graduation from Coronado High School, she graduated from UTEP with a degree in Political Science. As the music teacher at First Presbyterian Preschool for over 20 years, she helped build the musical foundation for thousands of children in the El Paso area and was affectionately called “Miss Carol”. She trained hundreds of teachers across the country for Kindermusik. She shared, inspired and touched many lives through her love and passion for music. She shared her beautiful voice in the church choir for over 40 years and sang weekly to nursing home residents as part of the Good Time Singers for over 20 years. She was active in the community by serving in Junior League of El Paso, PEO, Pan American Round Table, TXAEYC Paso del Norte Chapter, and El Paso Music Teachers Association. Some of her great joys in life were her strong faith, love of music, teaching children, and spending time with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeman and Miriam Harris. She is survived by her husband, Tom Stripling; son, Ryan Stripling; daughter, Paige Stripling; brother, Tom (Kathleen) Harris; sister-in-law, Sheri (Rick) Hervey; nephews, Rick Hervey and Chris (Allie) Harris; nieces, Katherin Hervey and Ashley Harris; uncle, Ed Allen; aunts, Rose Marion Kelly, and Carolyn (John) Robertson; cousins, Diane (John) Angell, Deane (David) Burks, Liz (Don) Rose, Jane (Bob) Douglass, and Prince (Becky) McKenzie A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday December 9th at University Presbyterian Church, 244 N Resler Dr. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Preschool, 1340 Murchison, El Paso, TX 79902; the Music Department of University Presbyterian Church, 244 N Resler Dr, El Paso, TX 79912; or Downtown Urban Community Kids (DUCK), PO Box 3705, Phoenix, AZ 85030.
