Carol L. Hanson

Carol L. Hanson, Colonel United States Army Retired, passed away July 9, 2012. Col. Hanson was born June 4, 1930 in Denver, CO. She graduated from the University of Colorado and was awarded a bachelors degree of science in nursing. Later she received a masters degree of arts from Webster College. She served proudly in the Army Nurse Corps from November, 1956 to December, 1981 when she retired as a Colonel. During her years of service she served tours in Germany, Lebanon, Japan, and Vietnam. She also served in many hospitals in the United States. Among her many awards and decorations she was awarded two Bronze Stars. She was a volunteer for many years at the El Paso Zoo and for the animal therapy program. She was a member of St. Album’s Episcopal Church in El Paso. She is survived by a sister, Wilma Grace Powell of North Platte, NE. Services and Interment are private.
