Carol Frank

August 22, 1952 — July 22, 2024

El Paso, Texas

Carol Sanders Frank passed away in El Paso, Texas on Monday, July 22, 2024 after a long battle with a serious fungal lung infection and cancer. Born Carol Charrisse Sanders on August 22, 1952 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Carol is survived by her mother, Wanda Gibbons; her brother, Gary Sanders (wife Carol); niece Brittany Sanders, nephew Raleigh Sanders, great nieces Nieve and Addie; her Aunt Barbara (husband Jesse) Ornelas; her first cousins Holly (husband Steve) Waugh; first cousin Evelyn; Uncle Ken Baldwin (wife Ruby) first cousins Keith (wife Gayla) and Jim (wife Jeanie) Baldwin, cousin Larry Baldwin (wife Bonnie), and numerous other great-nieces, great-nephews, and children of cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayland Sanders, her stepfather, Bud (“Pop”) Gibbons, and her husband, Peter Frank.

Carol was raised in El Paso, Texas and graduated from Bel Air High School in 1970. She worked in El Paso for a few years, then moved to California where she met and married her beloved husband, Peter Frank. After his untimely death in 2004, she moved back to El Paso, where she became involved in her church, Bethany Christian Church, on Springwood Street. She served as Ministry Assistant there for many years, particularly serving the Worship and Education departments.

Carol was a beautiful person, inside and out. She had a strong and living faith, and she cared about the church and its members with her whole heart. She served the church with no limits to her devotion. Her mother Wanda attests that she was a wonderful daughter to raise, along with her brother Gary, who was very dear to her.

Carol was funny, loved to laugh, loved puns, and despite her cancer and lung issues, her default setting was always joy. She had genuine humility and was a peacemaker. She never said an unkind word to anyone, or about anyone. She loved being out-of-doors and was an avid gardener. Her backyard was also the home of box turtles galore, as well as cats she rescued from feral lives, had neutered, and then re-homed in her neighborhood.

She was a talented artist, creating beautiful and deeply spiritual painted gourds. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and church, where she is to be honored at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 3rd, at 10453 Springwood (79925) at 11:00 a.m.
