On July 11, 2022 in Newport News, Virginia, Carmen (Moreno) Williams entered eternal life at the age of 70 surrounded by her loving family.
Carmen Moreno was born on November 16, 1951 in El Paso, Texas, to Porfirio and Luz Moreno. She attended Incarnate Word School and graduated from Ysleta High School in 1970. On June 2, 1973, she married Merrill A. Williams. Together, they raised three children: Steve, Stephanie, and Jonathan in El Paso and later in Virginia.
In El Paso, Carmen was a devoted member of her church, Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Following the family’s move to Virginia in 1995, she joined the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she was an avid volunteer and choir member. Carmen had a passion for flower gardening, adorning her home with precious finds, catching up on the most recent movie flicks, cheering on her favorite sports teams, and sharing laughs with friends. She will be fondly remembered for her love of family, generosity, and unconditional love. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved granddaughters, Charlotte and Audrey Jallo and Facetiming her grandsons, Luca and Grant Williams.
Carmen was preceded in death by her parents (Porfirio and Luz) and siblings (Antonia Moreno, Lucio Moreno, Adelaida Chavez, and Lucila Moreno). She is survived by her husband (Merrill), three children (Steve [Erika], Stephanie Jallo [Jacob], and Jonathan), four grandchildren (Charlotte and Audrey Jallo and Luca and Grant Williams), and five siblings (Leonor Armstrong, Porfirio Moreno Jr., Ramon Moreno, Miguel Moreno, Terry Cortez, and Jerry Moreno), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on July 21, 2022 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, Virginia at 5:00 p.m.
Services in El Paso are at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church on Tuesday July 26, 2022, with viewing and Vigil from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM (Rosary at 7:00 PM). Mass will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, with Committal Service at 2:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the American Cancer Society.
