On Friday, May 15, 2009, Carmen entered eternal peace after having a year long battle with cancer. Surrounded by family & friends, we are comforted that she lived a full life as a devoted wife, mother, aunt & grandmother. In 1961, she opened El Nido Restaurant & helped the business grow over the many years. A devout Catholic, she placed her faith in God with everything she did. As a young girl, she learned the value of hard work and shared it with her sons. Her inspiration to many, especially her kids was working hard and be educated. Like she once said, "if your educated and hard working anyone will hire you". Being the last survivor in her own family, she was admired by all who knew her. Her passion was greeting customers and talking to them over the many years. Preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Jorge was the love of her life. Together they now rest in heaven watching over all of us. Carmen is survived by her sons and their families. Jorge (Yolanda), Victor (Lindy), Tito (Ofelia) and Mark. Her devotion to her 10 grandchildren, her nieces and nephews will be missed by all. We would like to thank the many nurses and doctors who cared for her during the last year. Not enough words can be expressed to her nieces, Maru & Lucilla who were by her side. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 19th, 2009 from 5 to 9pm, with recitation of the rosary at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home-West. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 20th 2009 at 10:00 am at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley. She will be missed by all who knew her. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home- West.
