Carmen M. Duran

Carmen M. Duran, 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2010. Carmen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was a warm and giving person who opened her home and heart to all. She loved to cook and was known for her delicious Mexican plates. She also collected porcelain dolls and Angels. Her faith was her strength through her battle with Parkinson’s. She will be greatly be missed by all who knew her. She belonged to La Purisima Catholic Church where she served in the Alter Society and was a member of the First Parish Council. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernesto G. Duran; her parents Nestor and Epigmenia Morales; brothers, Pedro and Antonio Morales and sister Rosalia Casillas. Carmen is survived by her son; Armando Duran (Sara); daughters; Ida Duran Hinojosa and Gloria Borrego (Mike Norman) sister; Mary Armendariz (Paul); sister in law, Mary Morales, Luisa Morales and Sofia E. Duran, She also had 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. The family extends their grateful appreciation to her loyal comadre, Juanita Lujan, her caretaker, Rosa (Mari) Aguilar, Dr. Gregorio Castillo, Hospice El Paso, Especially Celina Fabela and Margarita Lopez who were always there for our beloved mother. Pallbearers will be Gilbert Federico, Jr., Armando Duran Jr., Mike Duran, Rene Federico, Ernest Duran, and Michael Borrego. Honorary Pallbearers; Ida Villaba, Christopher Duran, Javier Caro, Ernie Landeros, Sal Lopez. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at La Purisima Socorro Mission Catholic Church. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Americas.
