It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carmen Estela Berry (Tita) on October 9, 2022. She was born on September 24, 1929 to Eliseo E. Colon Rivera and Carmen Estela Colon Vivas, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. She is survived by her son Philip H. Berry, her daughter Mary B. Schmidt, her granddaughter Jennifer M. Acevedo (Alfonso), and great granddaughter Stella Liliana. In addition she is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, god children and many good friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Philip L. Berry, her parents and brother Eliseo R. Colon Vivas. The family is especially grateful to the Asencio family for their 63 years of friendship and love. We would like to thank Maria Salamanca for her kindness, support and love she provided our mother. In addition special thanks to Father Hernandez for his spiritual support, Dr. Ines Sanchez and the staff at Envision Hospice Care.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 8:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 6:00pm on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive. Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00am, Friday, October 21, 2022 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 4805 Byron Street. Interment will be at a later date at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
