Carl Loriston Heinlein, Sr. November 28, 1935-October 5, 2011 Obituary Carl L. Heinlein, Sr., age 75, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at his residence in El Paso, TX. He lived with his son and daughter-in-law, Carl Heinlein, Jr. and Twyla (Mc Pherson). He was born November 28, 1935 in Huntington, IN. He was the son of Charles L. and Rose (Russo) Heinlein. Dr. Carl Heinlein received his undergraduate degree from Ball State University and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in 1961. He practiced medicine for twenty years in Danville, IN. He served as a medical missionary in Mexico, Guatemala, the Caribbean, and Nigeria, West Africa. He co-founded the Agua Viva Children’s Home in Guatemala, C.A. He taught Bible at the Jesus Center in Houston, TX. He was a regular attender at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene in El Paso, TX. Carl was known for his big-hearted generosity, enthusiasm for life and God, and for his volunteer service. He will be truly missed. Dr. Heinlein was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Charles Heinlein; and his half-sister Velma (Heinlein) Wohlford. Carl is survived by one brother, Merl F. Heinlein; his ex-wife, Joyce (Payton) Heinlein; four sons and seven daughters: Pamela, Debra Santos, Patricia Olsen, Joe, Jan Heinlein-Mann, Richard, Steven, Carl Jr., Amanda Werner, Mary Lisa Williams, and Miriam Gron; 32 grandchildren; and 16 great- grandchildren. A Memorial Service for both Carl and his brother Charles Heinlein will be held Tuesday, October 25 at 7:00 PM at New Fellowship Center, 2105 Worrington St., Sarasota, FL 34231. Further arrangements for immediate family and friends will be made at a later date. Memorial gifts in honor of Carl may be sent to NewSong Church, P.O. Box 451839, Grove, OK 74345. Please add a notation for "Voice In The Wilderness Ministries."
