Candido Santana Montañez died peacefully at his home in El Paso, Texas on December 14, 2020, with his loving wife by his side. He was born in Candelaria, Toa Baja, Puerto Rico to Guillermo Montañez and Alberta Santana on Dec 1, 1930. He joined the United States Army in 1952 and honorably served his country for 30 years. His service for the Army would send him all around the world to include a tour in the Korean War. He would go on to continue his service to his country as a Civil Service Employee for 10 additional years. Left behind to mourn his passing are his wife of 53 years, Natividad; their children Ivette Montañez (Esmie), Brunilda Montañez, Nilda Montañez, Marisol Pacheco (Robert), Eddie Montañez (Dreina), Jasmine Medina (Javier), and Sammy Montañez (Cynthia); his grandchildren Natividad, Yecenia, Marisol, DJ, Sammy Jr, Tianna, Imari, Alex, Honesty, Chippie, Elisa, Jonah, Athena, Carolena, Giovanni, Tai, Kai, Israel, Jojo, and Trinity; and his great-grandchildren Camila and Orion. Memorial service will be held December 28, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at Fort Bliss National Cemetery on December 29, 2020.
